Sunna grew up in Hiroshima and Berlin and moved to Reykjavík in 2017, where she finished her BA in German in 2019 from the University of Iceland with a thesis on marketing and tourism. In 2021, Sunna graduated with a BA in Art Theory from the same university with a thesis on Japanese Woodblock Prints. 

She holds an MA in Curatorial Practice from the Iceland University of the Arts, where she graduated in spring 2023.
